Ladies Reading Club Fund
The Ladies Reading Club Fund supports the ongoing preservation of one of Junction City's historic treasures and the continuation of a proud legacy of philanthropy. Established in the late 19th century, the Club is committed to promoting the community's higher intellectual, social, and moral standards. Donations help maintain the historic Club House—gifted to the organization in 1896 and recognized as the first of its kind west of the Mississippi—ensuring it remains a vital part of the city's cultural heritage.
In addition to preserving history, the Ladies Reading Club actively contributes to the future by supporting educational and artistic endeavors. The organization awards an annual scholarship to a local graduating senior and participates in state and national initiatives, including hosting the Kansas division of the General Federation of Women's Clubs' annual music audition. Contributions to this fund help sustain the Club's dual mission of honoring the past and investing in the promise of future generations.
