Geary County 4-H-Senior Citizen Center Building Fund
The Geary County 4-H Senior Citizen Center is a cherished community hub, established in the mid-1970s through the collaborative efforts of local citizens and groups to serve both 4-H members and senior citizens. Over the years, it has become a vital gathering place, hosting a wide range of events including the Geary County Senior Citizens activities, 4-H and K-State Research & Extension programs, the Junction City Rodeo, the JC Saddle Club, Geary County Girls Softball, and the Free Fair. The center and surrounding fairgrounds are also available for public rental, with all proceeds from rentals dedicated to facility maintenance and upgrades, as the Building Committee receives no funding from the county. Currently, the committee is focused on several key improvements: replacing the original tables and chairs with new furniture for renters, updating signage to honor the facility’s rich history, and enhancing technology resources for use by renters and groups. These updates are essential to maintain the center as a welcoming and functional space that continues to serve the community effectively for years to come.
